Steps to Finding Yourself, Your Confidence, & Your Purpose - Part 4
Today is the last part of this series on Finding Yourself, Your Confidence, and Your Purpose. I hope you're feeling a little excited about this week's topic. This is the fun, yet kind of scary part.
So let's talk about finding your purpose.
You discovered your values, what's important to you. You determined the meaning and maybe the origin of your values, what really makes you, "you". You discerned your barriers, what's gotten in the way of living out your values and who you were meant to be. And you decided the next steps, the things you committed to doing to make a positive difference in your life. In doing these things, you were able to figure out how to live authentically and congruent with your beliefs and values, which enables you to have a confidence in yourself that you may have never experienced before.
So, I'm wondering if, while doing all this work, you began to see a theme bubble up? Were there ideas or feelings that came up across multiple areas? Was there an excitement that came up for you in any particular area? If so, then you're on the way to finding your purpose.
Discovering & solidifying your values helps you develop confidence, because you now know who you are and what you stand for, what's important to you. Growing and strengthening your confidence helps you realize your purpose.
Let's take a look at the definition of purpose. "The reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists; to have as one's intention or objective." Your purpose is the reason you exist. It's the essence of your intention for your life, your objective.
This definition ties your purpose back to your values. Take a look back at your core values, the things are that most important to you. Figure out which values bring you joy or happiness, which things can you envision yourself doing. And think...if money wasn't an issue, what would you want to do with your life? How would you want to impact the world?
When you're feeling most confident, what are you doing? What are you involved in? THAT, my friends, is what your purpose is. The very thing you feel the best, the most fulfilled when doing.
For me, my purpose is to help other people through their struggles, to be that outside person who helps walk them through stress and anxiety, who helps them break things down and figure them out, and then tackle them piece by piece. My purpose is to help people restore themselves to their full potential.
So, take a look at the work you've done over the past few weeks and I bet your purpose will make itself known. The next step is to bravely move in the direction of your purpose. Time to make a plan!
If you still want or need help dissecting the idea of finding yourself, your confidence, and your purpose, I'm more than happy to help you. THAT is my purpose. Please feel free to contact me directly.
